Zero Retention
A very nice grinder. I got it because it is designed to be repairable and all parts are available to buy instead of just chucking it in the bin.Well built and well designed and also looks good. You can remove the burr for cleaning in seconds needing no tools. One strange thing was that the chord that came with it had a two-pin Euro type plug on it but any standard UK chord will do. I shortened the cable to the length I needed and fitted a 13 Amp UK plug with a 5 Amp fuse.

Faulty on delivery
Amazing that a simple device like a coffee grinder that costs £300 can't be made to work straight from the box.Returned for a refund.

For the seriious coffee nerd
This is a quality machine. Robust and well made. Will grind beans from coarse right down to Turkish "powder". I am an espresso drinker and it is ideal for single servings. Grind timer is accurate to 1/100 of a second. Easy to change and will remember your last setting. Also easy to dismantle for cleaning / repairs.Love it!

EU PLUG not AP rather S1 burrs. Same burrs great grinder
They should mention the fact the grinder comes with an EU plug. Bit annoying but not the end of the world. This is also the S1 SETTE 30 so the burrs aren't marketed as AP. I don't believe there's a difference rather just baratza updating the name of the burrs from AP to S1.

Poor Build Quality and Cheap Components = Short Life Span
I paid £400 for my Sette 270 in 2018. After three years of use, during which it ground about 1800 shots, it began to fail. The macro adjustment ring was beginning to move during grinding, making it difficult to achieve a consistent grind, even when trying to hold the ring still with your finger. I contacted Baratza support who asked for a video of the problem and the serial number of the machine. Having reviewed the video, they said it "sounded" like the gearbox was failing and sent me instructions on how to fit a new one and told me my importer could provide the part - yes, at a cost of just under £100. I wasn't prepared to spend that much money to then fit the part myself without any guarantee it would solve the problem. When I Googled the problem, I found many very negative reviews from people who had owned a Sette for some time - the consensus is that cheap components mean that this grinder is very likely to fail, sooner or later. The cost of ownership been 22.2p per coffee. That's crazy. If you just have one bag of beans on the go at a time, get yourself a Eureka Mignon. If, like me, you drink coffee throughout the day, get a dedicated single dose grinder like the Niche Zero. But whatever you do, don't buy a Baratza grinder.

Best to avoid this.
Plastically fantastic model of a unusable version of the Sette 270w.Doesn't grind for pour-overs, and doesn't grind for espresso and anywhere in between. The coarse setting is not good for anything and the finest setting has such big jumps between grind settings that you can have an 18 second shot, change one position and get a 33 second shot. Not only that, but from shot to shot, very inconsistent. If you're thinking about a baratza Sette, go for the 270w, but then you can buy a very nice grinder at around £500, with better build quality and something that'll last more than a year before having to touch it.Has a massive issue with the plastic gearbox failing prematurely, so be prepared for frequent money spending on this.2/5, because it's easy to clean, provides fluffy grounds, so, they're a bonus - about the only bonus this machine provides.

Preis/Leistung top
