FANTASTIC! LOVE THIS BOOK.
Purchased a "Like New" condition but the book I received looks brand new, & is in perfect condition.Herringbone is my favorite stitch but I wanted a book that would help me push myself. This beautiful book will do that WITHOUT needing to buy any of the newer shaped beads with multiple holes - sticks to the basics (15s,11s,8s) round seed beads or triangles, some crystals. The backgrounds used to photograph finished projects are light, soft & don't compete with the beadwork. The print size is large enough to be easily read. Melinda has done an awesome job laying out all of the stitch diagrams throughout this book. They are a generous size; new thread path is a different color than the thread paths before it; different bead color/sizes to represent what is being used in the project. Each new section has several pages with instructions for the various types of herringbone stitch (flat, circular, tubular, etc) & 1 primary project with several 'design options'. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in off-loom beading. Even those new to beading will find a few 'get started' projects & their skills will grow as they work through the book. A great addition to anyone's beading library.

Truly a Complete Guide to Herringbone
I have a large library of beading books and this one is among the best. The projects are interesting and well illustrated, and include a variety options for changing up the design. I particularly like the comprehensive "Basics" section at the front of the book. While I'm an intermediate beader and familiar with most of the information included in this section, it's presented in an easy to access way with well designed graphics that aren't simply duplicated from the publisher's other books. The projects themselves are fresh and interesting, and--in addition to Melinda Barta's designs--also include projects from a variety of Beadworks' Designers of the Year. This book is now in my top 5 'go to' books--the ones I take out whenever I'm planning a new project.

Good book if you really want to learn Herringbone Stitch.
This book is formatted to teach. Folks that want to learn this technique will find clear, easily followed instructions. However, be aware that within each section, the projects build on each other. For instance, Step 1 of the Rose Garden Necklace tells you to reference Step 2 of the Graceful Garland necklace. So you might need to flip back and forth.I have my "book" on my Kindle. For this reason, I would really like to see a page up front that pictures all of the projects in the book. That's my only reason for removing a star.

Great Book
This book covers all you need to know to get started beading in herringbone stitch. There are a wide variety of projects with plenty of pictures and instructions. All the projects can be completed by beaders with little or no experience of this stitch. Whilst the projects are fairly simple this book is nevertheless a valuable asset for both beginners and advanced beaders.

The word " mastering " always gets my attention
. I have learned that you can always learn more from different people. Sometimes you just don't understand so you go to another artist and then you get it. If it's a new stitch or a new technique then I want to learn how they did that . I am self taught through the bead magazines and bead books and finally with DVD's. I get excited to see new designs with old stitches. I am amazed what these bead artist can dream up. If it wasn't for them sharing their talents I would still be making a strip. I liked the book very much. It has so much variety and diagrams. At this point I haven't made any thing out of the book yet. I never jump right in. I am so behind in wanting to make this and this and this.......if you know what I mean. Hopefully I'll make that chevron chain bracelet by Ms Potter. You all know you have to get in the zone.......and when your there you keep going until the project is finish. I gave it 4 stars because I haven't made anything out of the book. It's a nice size book with plenty of information on bead basics, beautiful pictures and colorful diagrams and step by step details.

well worth buying
I have wondered for some time if I should buy this book - I like Ndebele and already have a couple of books on it. I have just examined it (for free) on Amazon Unlimited and have now ordered a print copy. Explanations very good and extensive for beginners and full of useful tips for the more experienced. Several of the examples are great and almost all contain interesting ideas not easily thought off by the ordinary beader (i.e. me).I need a copy to keep on the bookshelf as this, for me, will make working from it easier.I can't wait to get started - I am already imagining many variations on the patterns shown.A great book for any level of beader

Great book- late delivery
Very good book. Not necessarily for beginners as there you have to understand written instructions. There are also diagrams just to illustrate some of the passages- not entire tutorials. Gorgeous projects to follow literally or as inspiration. You can also switch some of the patterns between the projects . Extremely inspirational book to me and reminds me style of Sabine Lippert works. You need to be patient as it takes some time to arrive to UK- much later then supposed date of delivery. But it’s worth to wait :)

Some Beautiful pattern, expert beaders only.
Unusually for an instruction manual (in my experience at least) there are some truly stunning patterns in this book. However, this is not for novices but for experienced beaders who want to expand their technique. Buy it as a standard to aim for.

Herringbone nirvana! :-D
An inspiration! Showed it to my friends at our local beading group and, to a person, they're all getting their own copies, it's that good. Full of great ideas and clever stitch combinations.
