Just the thing when the power goes out
I bought this bulb as a simple way of providing emergency lighting. I have some 12V deep cycle batteries which I charge from solar panels or, in winter, from the mains. The nice chunky clips grip the contacts on the battery and I have light whenever I need it. So far, I haven't suffered a power cut, but if and when I do this will come in handy -- and it's much safer than candles! (I remember candles from the early 1960s when there were power outages resulting from under-supply on the UK grid.)
