Thrive Comfy Collar, Large

Highly recommended
The media could not be loaded. Purchased when our girl needed surgery, she hates the cones and they cause her added stress. She finds the inflatable collar comfortable to wear, in fact when sleeping it was like a pillow for her chin :) All recovered well now but would recommend you have one of these handy in case emergency surgery is ever needed. The surgery before I had to borrow one at short notice so pleased to have this one now.

Good
My 3 year old Labrador was neutered a few days ago. The vets sent him home with the dreaded "cone of shame" which I think is barbaric! The dog was being driven demented by the buster type cone. Luckily he only had to wear it for 12 hours because I'd ordered this Comfy Collar and it arrived quickly via Anazon Prime. Lab accepted this straight away and has slept, drunk and eaten well with this and his surgical wound is healing well. Recommended.

Works well and Phoebe likes wearing it.
Great product.Phoebe is a big dog and the collar the vets gave her was insanely huge. This not only did a good job of keeping her away from the leg, but she was happy to wear it and used it like a pillow. Why these are not now standard at vets I do not know.Good quality and the cover had good anti-scratch properties.Well worth the money.

beats the cone of shame any day
this is the second one we have purchased!we initially bought when our staffy was a puppy and was castrated. It stopped him been able to get to the stitches but also enabled him to be comfortable and sleep and eat with no issues.he now has an issue with his eyes and keeps scratching, as its 4 years on we now have a bigger size and its doing the trick stopping him making himself sore.easy to clean as you can take the inner out and also can inflate to the point that is required

Thrive Comfy Collar, Large
The Thrive Comfy Collar is an inflatable collar – a bit like a swimming ring for humans - which can be attached to a pets existing name/licence collar and then clipped around its neck and secured with a velcro strap to prevent scratching, pulling out stitches/staples, dressings etc after accidents or surgery. Allowing freer movement and not obscuring vision it is an excellent alternative to the plastic Elizabethan collar (lampshade) routinely supplied by vets. It is available in 5 sizes from XS to XL depending on the size of animal it is needed for.I bought the large size for our collie/lab cross following his rear leg cruciate ligament surgery as he was starting to lick at the stapled wound and, given that he was on cage rest, the lampshade had caused him too much distress in the confined space. While he liked the Comfy Collar and could sleep, eat and drink his water while wearing it we found that he soon figured out how to reach his wound despite the collar which was disappointing as it was otherwise perfect. It is an excellent, well-made product but, based on my experience, it would only be completely effective if the animal’s wound/dressing etc. was above hip level in dogs with a similar snout length to a lab, collie, German Shepherd. On that basis I would rate the Thrive Comfy Collar as 4*.

Fantastic Idea but......
Great idea. My lovely old Springer found it comfortable after being totally stressed out by enduring the traditional 'cone of shame'.However, this is not for you if you share your life with a normal, strong, active dog. It is just not strong enough. First time Charl went to scratch his ears, his claws went straight through and punctured both the outer material and inner inflatable ring.If the comfy collar was made of durable materials it may be more expensive but it would certainly be worth it!Back to the drawing board with this one.

Good Quality
My vet recommended this for my dog, who had an ulcer on her eye. Buying from amazon was cheaper than the vet's price. I did not use it as her ulcer cleared up quickly. So I still have the item for the future if needed it is good quality and far better than the plastic cones that I used in the past.

Great collar for our dogs
This is the second one of these collars we have ordered. They are absolutely marvellous. Firstly they stop the dogs licking operation scars. They are far more comfortable than those awful Elizabethan collars. The dogs can also use them to rest their heads on like a pillow. Overall a very good invention and so simple. Plus we feel less guilty at having to put the collars round our dogs necks when we have to.
