good for little hands
We got these for my son, who is 7 and struggles with the plastic chopsticks we get when we go out for dim sum. The first time out, he gave them a hesitant try, and then was thrilled. He could eat the same way as everyone else at the table! He no longer felt like "a baby" for having to use a fork for dim sum.Because they are joined, it's not as easy to use them to scoop rice, and they are a little slippery, but not nearly as slippery as the restaurant chop sticks, anyway.

Seems much more intuitive than the ones joined at the top...
So here we go again, but this time with a smile on my face.My boys, ages 5 and 3, have taken an interest in chopsticks, but due to lack of coordination and lack of patience, grew pretty frustrated."Training" chopsticks to the rescue.Briefly, I started out with one set each of Pororo Edison and "Cute Panda" chopstick -- each somewhat different, but similar in that they are bound at the top. And I found this to be a big hindrance in use: the 5 year old was operating his Panda chopsticks like miniature salad tongs. At least Edison's were on the right track with the thumb loop and two finger loops, to encourage proper grip.I ordered up this set for the 5 year old to try out. He didn't like giving up the panda, but he's using these much more enthusiastically, and with something resembling proper technique.Unlike the Pororo Edison, these Juniors lack the thumb loop, and don't have pliers-like flats on the tips. And in fact, the two finger loops are removable for down the road, as experience is gained.I'm really super pleased, and plan to transition the 3 year old to these in the near future. They even appear to be somewhat usable for adults with smaller hands (my wife did okay testing them out; for me, they're just a touch small, making them clumsy).

Good size for kids!
I'm from a country where people use chopsticks better than their fingers, and actually I'm one of them as well. I eagerly wanted my kids to learn how to use chopsticks and have been using little training chopsticks with characters like toys. As my kids were growing a little big (6 and 8 now), I thought it might be the time to move on to introduce them with more like "real" thing. This product is in very good length for them, compared to the kiddie chopsticks, that makes them easier to pick up some larger stuffs into their mouths. One thing I may want to correct is that the whole bunch of the finger rests and rings may move up a little bit towards the top portion. That way it mimics more of using straight chopsticks alone. Right now it sits just a little too low for me, but kids weren't bothered at all.

Great for kids!
Seven year old little girl loves these! She insists on using them whenever we have any dish with rice, which is often. She loves the feel of them, and acclimated to them almost instantly. She really does well with them, and they are easy to clean and care for. I have a feeling she will use these for several years until she graduates to the real deal with her mom and me.If you have a child, or young relative, or just know a kid who may be interested; these make a great gift that they will use for years. Fun, easy, and they will actually teach them to use the real thing. They do fine in our dishwasher, could not be better. Well, our little girl wishes they were pink. =)

Great for the beginner...
These chopsticks are great for the beginner. We would definitely recommend them for young kids.We bought these for our 3 yr old after a trip back to Malaysia to see my wife's family. Her cousin's kids were using them and we thought it was such a great idea to teach kids the proper way to hold chopsticks. Her cousin could only rave about how great they were so when we found out we could get them in the states we did not hesitate to purchase them. We also bought a set for my two nieces.

Sturdy and helpful
I bought this for my daughter a couple years ago. She is now able to use regular chopsticks and has passed it down to her little brother. It has held up great and looks brand new still. I would only say that it is too small for most adult women. I am a smaller woman and I can't fit it, not a problem for me though because I already can use chopsticks, but a warning for others since it says it's for 8+ up to ladies.

Easy to use the first time
Both my 6 and 8 year old kids were able to pick things up the first time they tried this. I tried teaching them how to use chopsticks before and they weren't able to figure it out at all. Now that we received this, they want to use them all the time. They are able to transition to chopsticks now, but they like these so much they don't want to.

Great tool
My youngest learned very quickly with these, and enjoys using regular chopsticks ever since!
