Great stairs for my older dachshund.
I have a high bed and a senior dachshund that is still very active, but out of an abundance of caution, I prefer him not to jump up and down off of furniture. I bought this item to replace another set of stairs that weren't especially comfortable for him to climb. They were shorter stairs that he would run/ trip up and never used to get off the bed. He is able to comfortably walk up these long stairs without a running start and the noise associated with his former stairs. I'm still trying to get him to use them on the way down, but that's a habit of his that's hard to break. We played with the stairs as a ramp too, but he seems to like them set as stairs better.Aesthetically, these are more attractive and match our decor better than the previous set. However, they also take up a lot more space in our tiny roomed 1940's home, than the previous set of stairs. Finally, assembly was a breeze, and the instructions were easy to follow. You essentially just have to attach the collapsible post on the bottom of the stairs, it took me about 15 minutes. They are also lightweight, so they're easy to move. For reference, my dog weighs 16 pounds and these stairs are perfectly sturdy for him. However, because they are so lightweight, I might be hesitant to use these with a big dog.

Not worth the money/cheap construction
Pros: Wide steps, long steps and looks niceCons: Made from cheap, lightweight pine and low quality hardware. If your dog is more that 25 pounds forget it. The steps connect to the frame by little ball bearings (1 at each connection point in frame) that are spring loaded and go into a very shallow hole in the frame. If you barely push down on the top step, closest to where the couch would be, it breaks apart. This was a great idea with the wide steps and the long steps, but use stronger/better wood, stronger hinges and just plain higher quality products. Wood is cheap and hardware is cheap.Very disappointed. If you get these, plan on stabilizing it yourself with better quality hardware, so be handy.NOT worth $100.I should have read the reviews first and the reviews are old enough that the compaany that makes these should have made this better by now. A few reviews state they have made changes and made it better. I don’t see how they could have unless they were worse construction than they are now.

Easier to train your dog.
My dog hated dog ramps. She would rather curl up in the well of the passenger seat than walk up a ramp to the spacious cargo area. The stairs were so easy to train her to. She is used to stairs in the house, so she took right to them! She now rides comfortably in the cargo hold looking out the windows at the passing scenery instead of the inside of the car door. My only complaint is when moving the stairs to put them back in the car, the stair keep opening up instead of staying flat. I think a bungee cord will solve that problem for me.

Fair quality
Overall product is good. Step depth and height are easy for my beagle to handle. My problem with this product is the design. The top step kept falling off (pins that go into the wooden side of the product) are not big enough/deep enough to hold it together). Had to rig tension using wire to keep the sides from pulling apart.

Simple, perfect steps, small footprint
These steps are perfect!! They are well constructed, and short enough to enable me to get into bed without moving them. The steps are low and easy for my dog to navigate, and they are wide enough to prevent her from losing her balance. The design is simple yet attractive. They took approximately 30 minutes for my husband to put together with a Philips head electric screwdriver. I highly recommend this product!!

Not sturdy enough
I had originally purchased the Pet Studio Pine Frame Dog Ramp Steps from another company that is no longer selling on Amazon three years ago [yes, it lasted that long]. Due to that not being available on Amazon anymore, I saw these as an alternative, and I purchased it. I was attracted to the price being much cheaper, and thought it would be better. The description is deceiving: assembly IS required. When I received the box, it took me about 30 minutes to put together and the parts were very flimsy. However, I thought I would give it a try. I purchased this for my 3 year old pot-bellied pig, and it cracked the minute he went down the steps this morning. Would not recommend for those with pot-bellied pigs.

My dogs love this thing
Very sturdy and looks nice. I have a 12 year old Weimaraner who is at the top of the 80 lb weight rating, but we haven't had any problems. She really likes the large flat steps. If I ever get a dog who likes a ramp better, it's a simple switch.

good & bad!
There are good and bad things about this item. Firstly, we are keeping it as it is the only ramp / stairs I could find at the height and look that I was ok with. They look nice and took me about half hour to assemble with my electric drill using a Phillips head screw bit. The first issue is that I have 2 senior pekingese with very short little legs. There is no way they can use it in the stair mode, and in the ramp mode, somehow the carpet had zero traction for them. They both slid down it like a slide. Here is what I did that finally made them able to use this. I put the bottom tier in the stair position and put a very firm / foam pillow under it (jutting out) so that they could make it up to the first step. It sort of created a half-step. The upper 2 tiers I left in ramp mode so there was less distance on the steep ramp for them to make it up.. I then put a towel over the whole ramp and tucked it under the top where it sits on the bed. That gives them the traction they need to make it up. Lastly, I will be purchasing some low pieces of wood and attaching them to each side of the ramp to create little bumper rails, because today my one peke got to the top and fell off the side. : ( Luckily he was ok but I don't want that happening ever again. SO... this would be a GREAT unit if the carpet had much more traction, and if it had at least low rails to keep pets from accidentally falling off. Side note: They did have a strong chemical type smell that I thought would be a real issue but it seems to have dissipated quickly .
